Singapore sits at a unique crossroads of hiring cultures — American and British multinational conventions dominate among the MNCs making up much of the market, while local Singapore-specific rules (work passes, TAFEP, CPF, and the Fair Consideration Framework) shape what you must include. The result is a resume format that rewards both global professional standards and sharp awareness of Singapore-specific requirements.

TAFEP — what to include and exclude

The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) promotes fair hiring. The Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices instruct employers not to request personal information that could create bias. Do not include:

Work pass status — essential and uniquely Singaporean

This is where a Singapore resume differs most from Western equivalents. State your status clearly near your contact details:

Expected salary convention

Many Singapore job advertisements request expected salary upfront. If asked, state a monthly range: "S$8,500–S$10,000/month." Research using MOM's salary benchmarking tool at stats.mom.gov.sg, MyCareersFuture posted salary ranges, and the Robert Half / Hays / Michael Page Singapore 2026 salary guides. If the advert does not request expected salary, do not include it.
